SIDE on Brighton Beach, after our hike

💛 Welcome, Lizzie

A new Social Impact Digital Explorer has joined SIDE. Lizzie Curtis is a senior designer and no-coder. Lizzie rides a yellow bicycle and sings in a choir.

😎 Hiring - deadlines: tomorrow!

We’re looking for a No-Coder and Service Designer to join the team, primarily working on a project for Citizens Advice Scotland. CAS has a wonderful mission: empowering citizens to help other citizens.

🥾 Hike to Brighton

Life at SIDE is pretty sweet. Every three months we go on a team hike. Our first hike took us from Newhaven to Brighton. 20km of sun, sea and no-code chat.

⛵️ SIDE summer party - RSVP

Our boat party last year was great fun. We’re doing another one! Join us for a summer shindig on Regent's Canal in London, Thursday July 7th. Read more and RSVP.

🌈 Two new projects for Hestia

Hestia is one of the largest providers of domestic abuse refuges in London. We’re working on RISE, a new type of Recovery College. And Bright Sky, an app and website that provides support and information on how to respond to domestic abuse. Coming soon to our projects page.

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Phase 3 for Citizens Advice Scotland

We launched the new CAS Helpline in February, as featured in the Voice magazine. Since then, we’ve moved on to a new £210,000 year-long phase of work. We ran a series of workshops in March and April to prioritise potential service improvements.

🤖 Harness AI to deliver social impact

It’s been a phenomenal month for AI announcements. OpenAI showcased “DALL-E”, which takes natural language captions and turns them into images. Google Research released a model that engages in reasoning to reach answers.

No-code is a great way to get these advances from the lab to end users quickly. We are currently working on two projects which harness extraordinary AI via no-code platforms.

🧰 Why No-Code?

We’ve launched more than 20 sites in the last two years, built with 21 different no-code tools. Here’s some thoughts on why No-Code rocks.

😢 David Frank, Rest in Peace

Noam and Andy, SIDE founders, first met working at a firm called RDF. The DF stood for David Frank. David has been a huge part of our journey over the last 20 years. He was an incredible inspiration, investor and friend. He recently passed away, far too young.

🦉 Things we’re sharing on Slack

  • 100 days of no code - We’ve promised tea at the Ritz if anyone at SIDE completes the challenge!

  • Workshopper - Resources and videos to help you run great workshops

  • Headspace Health - Built using Webflow, another reason to love Headspace
